Trina has done it again. Here's her new single "long heels red bottoms" featured off of her latest mixtape, "diamonds are forever". Trina raps over the miami style beat; courtesy production provided by Mr. Collipark. It's fun, and it's definitely something to twerk to!
I discovered the brilliance that is Connan Mockasin, and I am very moved. I first heard about Connan on a SpankRock interview with GQ. Spankrock mentioned how amazing this guy Connan's music was, and I very much agree. If you're not into psychedelic music, I wouldn't suggest this for you. This music video "Forever Dolphin Love" is also the name of his album, which was released back in March of this year. In the video a story is told about two creatures who go through different realms and find love.
Erykah Badu sings one of my favorite songs off of her latest album ,"Return of the Ankh" which is called "Your Funeral". The footage might seem a little redundant because of the shots and angles used over and over, but somehow it seems to show a more intimate side of Erykah. Also seen in the video is her producer (I think) Mr. RC, and Mr. Jay Electronica asleep in the background (the way he wakes up in the end is hilarious). Also spotted is her youngest daughter who stays asleep in mommy's arm. This video is also featured on www.creativecrontrol.tv
I recently saw this, and loved the movie. It's a very insightful film about the illness of cancer and how it affects the life of a young man. Seth Rogan plays his typical "funny-douchie-adorable-fuzzy" role, while other supporting actors like Anjelica(creepy old lady) Huston do an exceptional part in this movie as well. It will make you cry, while other scenes are hilarious. If you want to watch something that's cool and not too heavy on all the special effects bullshit, then go see it.
Here's a funny little video with my favorite Ovarian Swag Pumper Kreayshawn with Canadian know-it-all, Nardwuar. In this clip they discuss family, musical inspirations, soundtracks and virginity. The last 30 seconds of this video is pure comedy.
This is like what, the millionth time I've wanted to see a film that was playing in select theaters and guess which city is not showing it? You've guessed it. If any of the readers out there find a location where this movie is playing, do not hesitate to post.
Mega artist Pharrell Williams collaborates with Palladium Boots in creating a documentary about the effects of the tsunami that hit Japan in March of 2011. Upon his journey Pharrell speaks with some of the artists there as well as some locals in regards to how this disaster has affected them. I have never seen Tokyo with my own eyes, but from watching this I have a much deeper respect and knowledge of the city. From looking at all of the city lights and the different types of artists that Pharrell speaks with, there seems to be an almost infinite ora of inspiration in that environment.
artist, gate keeper of all things cool and raw in the L.E.S. of new york, mr.clayton patterson has shared his life in the big apple with a camera lens. I stumbled on his trailer for one of his documentaries called "captured" in which gives a very real history of the neighborhood that is the lower east side of new york.
now, me living all the way down in texas and being born in the 80's doesn't give me credit to say that i know what went on in new york during that time, BUT after watching this film and interviews of mr.patterson, one can only imagine and feel what it's like to see an entire place change from decade to decade.
for all of those who don't know too much about the L.E.S. of new york city, this part of town was considered a very dangerous yet cultural enviornment where some of the greatest artists, festivals, bars, clubs and bands all came to be. Some people think that this neighborohood now has changed for the better while those still living there only reminisce of what and how the vibrant the area used to be.
i feel as if this is a common issue happening in all historic neighborhoods in the United States. if you live in one area of town that is somewhat close to a metropolitan area, you have probably seen changes in the community as well as residency.
"if it affects one of us, then it affects us all"-unknown
Here's a nice gem from my favorite swedish angelic singer, Lykke Li. From her latest album "wounded rhymes", this is one of my favorite songs off of the album. The melody just stayed in my brain.I personally like the visual for the song, you may need to watch it a few times to understand it, but I dug it tho.
If you're an artist that specializes in canvas work, here is a very inspirational video that demonstrates the importance of concept, idea and design. Jesse Hazelip creates an exhibition called "the belle of the brawl". Video direction by Colin M. Day. Very moving video. Cheers to the free-thinkers.
Readers, stalkers or whomever else visits this page, I wanted to share a little project my good ol gal pal Charly is working on alongside her musical companion Margaux. It's a funding program that allows artists/businesses to get the creative endorsement they need in order to keep their music alive and goin.
Charly and Margaux are 2 female violinist who will always remain distinctive in their craft, especially in today's type of music making. (we have way too many artists, and not enough people who understand sound) Therefore I suggest you keep people like C&M in your headphones and on your ipod, ipad, mp3thingy, smartphone or what have you because they actually make music... FOR YOU.
While enjoying a wonderful celebration of the day of yesterday, i had the opportunity to experience the greatness of the southern gentleman that is Big K.R.I.T.. i loved alllllllllllll 21 tracks of his somewhat newly released mixtape, "the return of 4eva". From beginning to end, I was moved, and very crunk. Imagine a ugk feel with a nice andre 3k and david banner vibe to it. His delivery and lyricism is very straightforward, if you're from the south, this is the trunk rattlin mixtape for you. If you're not from the south, well that's just too bad, but at least you have an opportunity to hear some good wholesome southern rap music.
here are some of my favorite songs off his latest ep, "the return of 4eva"
Canadian band, "the weeknd" has gifted us with a new mixtape called "house of ballons". it's a very very sensual mixtape with deep rythms and melody. sort of like an r&b portishead if you will. Either way, I heard the first song featured on their EP called "high for this" and I wanted to lock someone along with myself in a dark room and jam this while i... well you know the rest. forget listening to the "ella, ella, radio killa" nonsense and open your minds, open your hearts and embrace yourself with the weeknd. I swear you'll wanna _________ something.
Over the past few months I have had a friend, who has worked harder than most. Recognized by most, but loved by few. I just want her to know that I am VERY PROUD OF YOU.
Here's her latest debut on a collaboration with Pharoahe Monch x Styles P
Flying Lotus does the visuals for Erykah's latest single, (I hope) "Gone Baby, Don't Be Long". I personally did not understand the visuals behind the song, BUT I'm just glad Flying Lotus and Badu got a chance to collab.
